Marmorino & Tadelakt Finishes: Venetian Plastering in Ifieldwood

Most homeowners use Venetian plastering on a single feature wall, in a hallway or on a chimney breast, so the finish becomes the focal point the rest of the room is arranged around. Concentrating a specialist finish where it has the most impact is often a better use of budget than spreading it thinly, and we are happy to advise on where it will work hardest in your home.

The finish itself is built up by hand in multiple thin coats rather than one thick application. Each layer is applied and then burnished before the next, which is what develops the depth, movement and light-reflective sheen that defines Venetian plaster. It is slow, deliberate work, and rushing it is exactly what flattens the final result, so we let the process take the time it needs.

For bathrooms and wet rooms, Tadelakt is applied and then sealed so it is genuinely water-resistant, unlike standard Venetian plaster which is decorative rather than waterproof. This is what allows a seamless, tactile plaster finish to be used where you would normally expect tiles, giving a wet area a soft, continuous surface with no grout lines to maintain.

Because a plaster finish has depth and movement that a paint chart cannot show, we can provide a sample panel where it helps. Seeing and feeling the actual colour, sheen and texture before the full application removes the guesswork and lets you commit to the finish with confidence, rather than picturing it from a swatch alone.
