Venetian Plastering Isfield

A flawless plaster finish depends entirely on the surface beneath it, so careful substrate preparation comes first. We make sure the wall is sound, smooth and properly prepared to receive the plaster, because any unevenness underneath telegraphs straight through the thin, hand-applied layers. This groundwork is a large part of why a specialist finish looks the way it does.

The finish itself is built up by hand in multiple thin coats rather than one thick application. Each layer is applied and then burnished before the next, which is what develops the depth, movement and light-reflective sheen that defines Venetian plaster. It is slow, deliberate work, and rushing it is exactly what flattens the final result, so we let the process take the time it needs.

Colour is part of the craft, not an afterthought. Venetian plaster and Marmorino can be tinted to a very wide range of tones, from soft neutrals to deep, saturated shades, and the way light moves across the burnished surface changes how that colour reads through the day. We talk through colour and texture options during the consultation so the finish sits right against the rest of your interior.

As well as new installations, we repair and restore existing polished plaster that has been damaged or has dated over time. Matching the original texture and colour as closely as possible is skilled work in its own right, and it means a tired or knocked feature wall can often be brought back rather than stripped out and started again.
