Marmorino & Tadelakt Finishes: Venetian Plastering in Mile Oak

Once sealed, these finishes are hard-wearing and easy to live with. A Tadelakt bathroom has no grout lines to scrub or reseal, and a polished plaster feature wall tends to gain character over time rather than chipping or dating like some paint trends, so the finish still looks considered years after it goes on.

For bathrooms and wet rooms, Tadelakt is applied and then sealed so it is genuinely water-resistant, unlike standard Venetian plaster which is decorative rather than waterproof. This is what allows a seamless, tactile plaster finish to be used where you would normally expect tiles, giving a wet area a soft, continuous surface with no grout lines to maintain.

A typical feature wall takes several days to complete, because each of the thin layers needs time to partially dry before it can be burnished and the next coat added. We talk you through the likely sequence and timeline at the quote stage, so you know what to expect and can plan around the work before we start in your home.

Because a plaster finish has depth and movement that a paint chart cannot show, we can provide a sample panel where it helps. Seeing and feeling the actual colour, sheen and texture before the full application removes the guesswork and lets you commit to the finish with confidence, rather than picturing it from a swatch alone.
